Fitness Karma - Earning Your Success

The title in this blog states it all - - Fitness Karma!

Well what does that mean?

Fitness Karma has a lot to do with working hard, putting forth the effort, and in turn the “fitness gods” will shine their light upon you and help you earn your success!

Does that make sense to anyone?

Here is an example: A referee has a fitness test coming up. They are missing some of their workouts, not training with the proper intensity, and they aren’t following their nutrition correctly. They somehow believe that even thou they are doing some type of training, they are going to be successful at passing their fitness test. Then when they don’t pass, they have a hard time understanding why. This is Fitness Karma!

I would pose this unique question to this referee -

“Do you think you have earned the right to pass the fitness test based on your effort of training leading up to this test?”

Only the referee will know deep down inside themselves if they have put in the proper effort leading up to the test.

For you to attain your fitness goals, referee goals, life goals, whatever goals you have set for yourself, you will need to earn your success.

How does one go about doing that?

First, I have always said having a set routine every day, will help keep you on the correct path. The routine should consist of proper sleeping habits, eating/nutritional habits based on the type of training for the day, and having a correct training schedule. The training schedule should consist of proper high intensity, low intensity, rest, recovery, active recovery etc. Also before you go to bed every night, you should know what is on your training schedule for the next day. In other words, be disciplined in your routine and the goals you want to accomplish.

Secondly, have the proper training for the goals you want to achieve. The more specific your goal, the more specific the training has to be. An example would be - Going to the gym and maxing out for a 1 Rep Max, when your goal is to gain better aerobic match endurance. These two don’t correlate and you won’t see a lot of benefit of aerobic endurance from this max strength training.

Thirdly, having an understanding of how to push yourself to new limits and/or beyond what your comfort zone is. This can be as simple as avoiding unhealthy food or being able to push yourself on a high intensity run, when you feel like you can’t give anymore.

Lastly, finding your why or finding your drive/motivation?

In other words - How bad to you want it?

  • What is going to keep you disciplined?

  • What is going to help accomplish your goals?

  • What is going to keep you on your routine?

  • What is going to help push you past your comfort zone and into a new threshold?

One’s ability to be disciplined and focused on their routine will help them gain a better understanding of the effort, passion, and motivation needed to accomplish any fitness goals set forth. When the successes come your way it won’t be because of chance or luck. It will be because you earned it and Fitness Karma will be on your side!
